Brazil Update - The last day in Brazil - Wonderful !!

Dearest friends,
This is our last day of shows in Brasil. Tomorrow, Wednesday, we separate the equipment, pack and begin the journey home. It has been an amazing day!
Seven shows and a TV interview ....
God is our strength and He enabled us to do seven puppet shows, and a TV interview, for two of our brazilian teams. Seven times today, the team completely set up and took down the stage, puppets and easle. David, Daniel, Joe, Teresa, Hadia, Gerson, Fabiana, never complained a single time.
Each show, they gave 110% of effort, sharing Christ with 1540 children, teenagers and adults. Hundreds came to faith! Praise Jesus!
Show #1
After a two hour drive we arrive a little late, and found several hundred children waiting on us. Part of our equipment did not arrive because the other vehicle with us had a flat tire. A sound system quickly appeared, as ours was in another car. Since the balloon pumps where also missing, Daniel became my human balloon pump. The children laughed and prayed and we saw Gods great providence.
Show #2
The principal of this school was a very fearful woman who did not love God. We explained to her carefully, exactly what we would say, refusing to compromise the Gospel. She agreed, but clearly she was surprised at how well the children listened. When 400 children payed complete attention to the words of Jesus, she became very nervous, finally stopping us. However, it did not matter since the children had already enjoyed a great program.
Show #3
A little girl, who was a student there, was blind. She could not imagine a puppet so I took one over to her so she could feel it. Its strange, we were not aware that anyone else noticed, but God used this small thing to touch several teachers. A storm forced us to end the program quickly, but that was OK. We had a sweet joy of hearing hundreds of children asking Jesus to be their Savior. We were all soaked but the equipment stayed dry. The rest of the day all of us looked pretty bad, but we were so happy.
Show #4
More than a hundred children called out to God, asking Jesus to be their Savior. The rain poured, but in God's providence this show was under a shelter, so we could continue. So many children lined up for hugs and just to say thank you.
Show #5
By now, we were beyond tired and dirty. Fabiana and five year old children prayed, putting their trust in God. We have all learned to ignore how we feel and put our eyes on Jesus.
Show #6
At a children's hospital, one mother cried as we told her very sick child about Jesus and His love.
Show #7
Over three hundred people packed into a Presbyterian church in Araras. The pastor is the cousin of Gerson, our team leader. Children came from all over the city an even from other towns. University students were brought in to observe our teaching techniques, but they heard Jesus. In soft whispers, children called on Jesus.
We leave Brazil today with full hearts and great joy.
Pray us safely home!
Watch for a final report.
In Jesus,
Linda for Daniel, Hadia, Joe, David, Teresa, Gerson, and Fabiana

Brazil Update - Into the farmlandsand coffee plantations

Dearest friends,
Into the farmlands and coffee plantations…
We are in the farmlands of Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais, the place where coffee grows. More horses and carts, cowboys, and people walking crowd the streets, than cars. A sweet pastor welcomed us into his four room house and fed us lunch. People have very little, but they share everything with us. The small towns and their street cling to the side of mountains and the streets run straight up and straight down.
More amazing than the scenery was what God did in the town square. With the mayor’s permission, we sat up right beside and enormous catholic church. More than 100 people gathered to hear Jesus. Many local church people came to the show with the understanding that it’s easier to get strangers to stop and listen if others are already there.
Our Brazilian story teller, Fabiana, and I, told the story of Zacheus. We shared the miracles of Jesus and His words. then, as we prayed, children prayed with us asking Jesus to be their Savior. There was such a sweet outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Teresa's clear, strong voice floated across the square, as she sang following her testimony. "Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is your Name".
A man from a town four hours away stopped to watch the program as he traveled through the town. He loved the program, even though he was not a Christian. Gerson and Fabiana, our Brazilian puppet team directors, spoke with him and agreed to come to his town with their team. He said, "I want what I've seen here for my children."
Brandao, a small town famous for its potatoes …
Our last show today was in Bueno Brandao, a small town famous for its potatoes, but it is also known for having very high rate of suicide among its young people. There are not enough jobs and they have no hope. It is common to hear about another suicide.
The people in the church are very poor, farmers by profession. To get here, we went up and up, across the mountains roads with more holes than pavement. The air is cold! The view was proof that God had to make this world. Hanging through the sides of mountains, we saw coffee bushes growing. The fresh beans taste great and silver bananas are amazing. We even stopped to look at them and I had my picture made with real coffee beans, it was great!
The pastor had a parrot that we all played with, but he seamed to dislike Joe. He was sure the bird was watching him. A little boy with lung problems lives with them because this town has the cleanest air in the state. I like this place very much.
We all enjoyed hearing the children sing, even though we did not know what the words meant. We could see the devotion on their faces.
Fabiana translates for us now as both of our previous two translators are no longer with us. She is such a blessing! Tonight as we told the story of Jesus, many children, teenagers, and adults prayed. This never ceases to delight us!
On the wall of this remote little church, we read these words, "Missioes esta no coracao de Deus esta igreja ama missioes", "Missions is the heart of God, this church loves missions". Our Brazilian team leaders gave a missions report before the service began. They are making so many contacts, for future ministry. Praise God!
Communication is difficult …
Communication is difficult because it seems that we have traveled beyond the reach of the internet. Even finding a phone is not always easy. So, you are probably receiving this letter a day or so late.
Yesterday we traveled to a nameless place to share with very poor children, who suffer greatly because of their parents’ sin. They love the puppet show, smiled, laughed and heard about Jesus. The people in the village have often been invited to the local church, but none of them had ever come until yesterday. God used the puppet show to draw then. Jesus is their only hope and our only hope.
Pastor Bertoni …
This is an extremely dangerous place where murder is common. They are at war in their community over drug sales and many children live with brothers and sisters because their parents are in prison. Please pray for pastor Bertoni who organized this wonderful day. As a street child over 50 years ago, he was adopted by a pioneer missionary, Clayton Townsend. Even though he already had six children, Clayton found room in his heart for one more little boy. Pastor Bertoni wants to begin puppet ministry since he has seen how we used it to share. He wants to go into all these schools and share Christ with children, telling them that God can be their father. Please pray for this new work.
Please keep praying!
In Jesus,
Linda
